PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia's Water Committee Chairman Aramazd Ghalamkaryan presented the country's vision for water security at the 14th ministerial meeting of the Regional Center on Urban Water Management (RCUWM) held in Tehran.
The session focused on global water management challenges, the impact of climate change, and the prospects for strengthening regional cooperation, according to the Water Committee.
The meeting, chaired by Iranian Energy Minister and RCUWM Board President Abbas Ali Abadi, discussed how rapid urbanization affects limited water resources, climate change's impact on water quality and management, water scarcity, and the need for coordinated international responses.
In his speech, Ghalamkaryan reaffirmed Armenia's commitment to active and constructive participation in the Center's work, emphasizing joint and coordinated approaches for effective problem-solving, experience exchange, and fostering long-term cooperation.
Accompanied by Armenian Ambassador to Iran Grigor Hovhannisyan, Ghalamkaryan also attended the 21st International Exhibition on Water Industry, Water Supply, and Wastewater Systems at Tehran's International Exhibition Center. He reviewed advanced Iranian technological solutions and products, evaluating their potential use in modernizing Armenia's water infrastructure. The visit also led to new cooperation opportunities.
The Armenian delegation chief visited Iran's Hydropower Resources Development Company, which specializes in dam and major energy infrastructure construction.
During talks with senior officials from Iran's Energy Ministry, Ghalamkaryan raised the possibility of hosting the next RCUWM Board meeting in Armenia.
