PanARMENIAN.Net - On December 5, Catholicos Aram I of the Great House of Cilicia met with Iran's ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, according to the Catholicosate's press service.
Among the topics discussed was the planned transport route through Armenian territory that would connect Azerbaijan to Nakhechevan, referred to as the Trump Route. The two also exchanged views on the recent visit of Pope Leo XIV to Lebanon, the internal situation in Lebanon, and the state of Iran-Armenia bilateral relations.
At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Amani extended an official invitation to Catholicos Aram I to visit Iran.
In August, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and U.S. President Donald Trump reached an agreement to launch the Trump Route, a corridor allowing Azerbaijan access to Nakhichevan while respecting Armenia's sovereignty.
The route is part of an exclusive U.S.-Armenia partnership, with potential 99-year development rights and major infrastructure investments expected from American firms.
Pashinyan stated that the U.S. has not been granted land for lease but rather construction rights on Armenian territory.
