Opinion: Washington's double standard on tech security

A "significant" amount of US-made communications equipment in Iran reportedly failed during a recent US attack, showing signs of "deep-seated sabotage" embedded in the equipment.

The incident could hardly be more ironic: The US -- allegedly behind the attack, both physically and virtually -- has spent years witch-hunting Chinese tech companies, citing fears of backdoors that threaten its "national security."

Yet when systems suddenly go dark at a critical moment, it turns out that it is Uncle Sam who holds the key.
