The director general of Roads Maintenance and Transportation Organization of West Azarbaijan Province said the exact location of the Kuzehrash border crossing has been discussed with a Turkish delegation and that preliminary agreements between the two sides have been achieved.

In comments during a visit to the proposed site in Kuzehrash, attended by local officials and Turkish technical representatives, Arsalan Shokri explained that studies for the new terminal are nearing completion. Only the final site selection remained, and today decisions were made to resolve this issue, with agreements reached, he said on September 30.

According to Shokri, both sides have agreed that construction on the two sides of the border would proceed with a shared and uniform gate to help facilitate economic and trade expansion. The official emphasized that the project is aligned with the target of boosting bilateral annual trade exchanges to $30 billion through shared border crossings.

The Kuzehrash border crossing is located 40 kilometers from Salmas.

West Azarbaijan province, with 550 kilometers of common frontier with Turkey, is Irans only province bordering the neighboring country. It already hosts three main crossings Bazargan, Razi, and Sero serving as Irans gateways to European markets.
