TEHRAN, March 26 (Xinhua) -- The Iranian police seized 1.295 tons of opium after armed clashes with drug traffickers in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan, official news agency IRNA reported on Sunday.
Four traffickers were arrested in two simultaneous operations carried out by the anti-narcotics police in two counties, IRNA quoted Doostali Jalilian, Sistan and Baluchestan's police commander, as saying.
This was the second-largest batch of narcotics seized by police in southeastern Iran over the past few days.
On Friday, the anti-narcotics police seized 1.66 tons of drugs in the province and arrested four traffickers, according to the IRNA.
