TEHRAN, July 30 (Xinhua) -- Iran on Friday reported 24,715 new COVID-19 cases, taking the country's total infections to 3,851,162.

The pandemic has so far claimed 90,344 lives in Iran, up by 270 in the past 24 hours, the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education reported.

A total of 3,348,363 people have recovered from the disease or been discharged from hospitals across the country, while 5,384 remain in intensive care units, according to the ministry.

By Friday, 9,366,290 people have received first doses of coronavirus vaccines in the country, with 2,652,358 taking two doses.

On Friday, Iran took delivery of the second consignment of coronavirus vaccines, including more than one million doses.

Iranian health authorities have re-imposed restrictions amidst the spread of Delta variant of COVID-19 in the country as the number of infections has been in alarming point in most parts of Iran over the past weeks.
