UNITED NATIONS -- All in-person meetings at the UN headquarters in New York were suspended on Tuesday after five diplomats of a country's UN mission tested positive for COVID-19, a UN spokesman said.

"Yesterday, the UN Secretariat was informed by a permanent mission that they had five positive cases among their staff. The UN medical service immediately initiated contact tracing with the full cooperation of the permanent mission. As of now, all in-person meetings have been suspended for today," said Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, at the regular noon briefing. LAGOS -- At least 13 people on Tuesday were confirmed killed in a road accident along northern Nigeria's Kaduna-Kano expressway, said an official.

Hafiz Mohammed, a commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Kaduna, said several passengers also sustained varying degrees of injury in the accident involving a Kano-bound bus and four other vehicles. (Nigeria-Road-Accident)

TEHRAN -- The chief commander of Iran's army said Tuesday that Iran has bolstered air defense near the northwestern border amid the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

KHARTOUM -- The Sudanese government on Tuesday decided to quadruple the fuel prices, effective immediately.

WASHINGTON -- The killing by police of a black man who wielded a knife on the street of Philadelphia triggered overnight protests in the city that lasted Tuesday.

The man, identified by a Philadelphia City Council member as Walter Wallace, was seen in a video posted Monday online walking into the street in West Philadelphia with a knife as people yelled and two police officers aimed their guns at him. (US-Shooting-Protest)
