Chinese Army reaches all areas in earthquake zone

China's army believes it has finally made contact with all towns and villages that were left isolated by last week's earthquake in south-west Sichuan province.
The People's Liberation Army, which is in charge of a massive rescue effort, says it has now reached the more than 1,000 places that were cut off when the earthquake hit on May 12th.
In many cases food, water and medical supplies were carried into rugged and almost inaccessible areas on the backs of soldiers.
Air drops are also due to continue.
The official death toll has now passed 40,000 and another 30,000 are listed as missing.
As of midday Tuesday, 159 aftershocks measuring above 4 on the Richter scale had been detected in Sichuan.
Aftershocks measured above magnitude 5 numbered 26, with four stronger than magnitude 6.
About 5.5 million buildings have collapsed and more than 21 million were damaged in the earthquake.
The quake affected 434 counties in 10 provinces and municipalities in China.

The only reason for the swift response by china is because it’s being watched by the rest of the world. Nothing more. china has no compassion. The world truly must feel sorry for the people under such a government.
